President's Message

Hi everybody

This Tuesday 2 February is our first meeting for the year at Toorak College. It will be a Club Night and President elect/ Club Service Director Neil Heron will Chair the evening.

The Club Night will provide an opportunity for Directors, Committees and Members to be fully informed about our program for the next six months, I do look forward to seeing everyone in person.

As you will see elsewhere in this Bulletin, we are now reverting to our normal protocols. It is expected that members will be in attendance and any member who cannot make the meeting is asked to let Secretary Pauline know asap and certainly no later than midday on Tuesday.

Toorak can now take unto at least 40 people at our meetings so we will have no difficulty in accommodating all members.

Each of our guest speakers for February will also attend in person, so we will be able to give Zoom a rest for the time being.

See you on Tuesday.

Until next time
Yours in Rotary
Sue

District Governor Mark Humphries and Past President Linda Humphries

Greetings to all members of the Rotary Club of Mt Eliza and other readers of this Bulletin.

Just a quick message this week. Linda & I wish all Club Members and readers an enjoyable Australia Day.

We look forward to catching up in person as we return to Toorak College from next week.

Until next time
Warm regards
Mark & Linda
Stories
Return to Toorak College for 2021
The great news is that COVID restrictions have been modified such that we can now have 40 people at our regular dinner meetings at Toorak.

From next week onwards (Tuesday 2 February) IT IS EXPECTED THAT MEMBERS WILL ATTEND IN PERSON. Should you not be able to attend, PLEASE NOTIFY SECRETARY PAULINE ASAP each time and certainly no later than noon on the day of the meeting.

Several times in the past we have had no attendees who didn't notify the Secretary. Please remember that this is a responsibility of membership.

In keeping with practice from the start of 2018 through until the COVID shutdown, Toorak will have a rotating menu for our pleasure.

It is planned that the following seven main meals will be provided on a rotating basis:
  • Lamb tagine, couscous and roasted vegetables
  • Roast pork, roast potatoes and stir fry vegetables
  • Spaghetti Bolognese, garlic focaccia and mixed salad
  • Butter Chicken with steamed rice, poppadoms and stir fry vegetables
  • Mustard and pepper roast beef, roast potatoes and mixed vegetables
  • Corned beef, horseradish sauce, mash potatoes and steamed vegetables
  • Teriyaki salmon, fried rice and stir fry vegetables
It will be wonderful to enjoy the Club Night on Tuesday, 2 February and enjoy the fellowship of which we have been deprived over the last year. See you all then!

REMEMBER WHEN COLUMN
A highlight over the past six months has been reading the contributions of Members, Honorary Members & Friends of the Club about their memories of the Rotary Club of Mt Eliza since it was Chartered in 1971.

In this, our fiftieth year, everyone is asked to submit their contributions for this column.

A number of members had a heavy workload in 2020 and were not able to provide an article.

Everyone who has not yet had their memories recorded is asked to send contributions to the Editor ( jimyoung3@icloud.com ).
