President's Message - John Welsh

President’s report 28th March, 2023
What a busy weekend. We supported the Great Aussie Hike with all the proceeds going to lifeline. The walk started  on Friday and continued on Saturday.  Four of us ran the sausage sizzle, which was not as busy as last year however we were situated to see all the fun as the walkers arrived at the rest stop. Thanks to Jim and all the club members who participated.
Sunday was the Farmers market and all back on deck. A big thank you to Neil for his storage of the Market trailer and setup early on Sunday morning, Thanks to Tim and his car for towing the barbeque trailer there and back. Very much appreciated. Basically the whole club helped to make the market a great success last weekend.
Carolyn ran the club night on Tuesday with all the directors contributing, an interesting night where Carolyn announced the Fireside where we meet for dinner and then go to different venues to discuss an agenda that Carolyn has put together. I also talked of the Spit night on SATURDAY APRIL THE 15TH.Please put it in your diaries 4 pm start. This fellowship night is a fundraiser for the youth section of our Club. We need a minimum of 50 guests so please ask friends to join us. It should be a lot of fun.
Next week we meet at Toorak, look forward to seeing you there.

Brynton's Joke of the Week
Brynton's Joke of the week
Sam Cohen & Morris Liftshitz, met in the park every day to feed the pigeons, watch the squirrels and discuss world problems.
One day Morris didn't show up. Sam didn't think much about it and figured maybe he had a cold or something. But after Morris hadn't shown up for a week or so, Sam really got worried. However, since the only time they ever got together was at the park, Sam didn't know where Morris lived, so he was unable to find out what had happened to him
A month had passed, and Sam figured he had seen the last of Morris, but one day, Sam approached the park and -- lo and behold -- there sat Morris! Sam was very excited and happy to see him and told him so. Then he said, ‘For crying out loud Morris, what in the world happened to you?
Morris replied, 'I have been in jail.'
'Jail!' cried Sam. What in the world for?'
'Well,' Morris said, 'you know Sue, that cute little blonde waitress at the coffee shop where I sometimes go?'
'Yeah,' said Sam, 'I remember her. What about her?
'Well, one day, she knew I had money, and she filed rape charges against me; and, at 89 years old,
I was so proud that when I got into court I pleaded 'Guilty'.
'The damn judge gave me 30 days for perjury’
