Youth Programs: RYPEN & RYLA

Developing young leaders is at the heart of Rotary.

Through programs like RYPEN and RYLA, Rotary helps young people build confidence, leadership skills, and a strong sense of community. These experiences are often life-changing, equipping participants with the tools to step forward in school, work, and life.

The Rotary Club of Mount Eliza is proud to support and sponsor young people in our community to attend these programs each year.

RYPEN: Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment

RYPEN is designed for young people aged approximately 14–17 who show potential but may not yet have had the opportunity to fully develop their skills.

Over an intensive weekend camp, participants take part in activities that focus on:

  • self-confidence and personal growth
  • teamwork and communication
  • leadership development
  • goal setting and resilience

The program is hands-on, practical, and often outside participants’ comfort zones in the best possible way.

RYLA: Rotary Youth Leadership Awards

RYLA is Rotary’s flagship leadership program for young adults aged approximately 18–25.

This immersive residential program brings together emerging leaders from diverse backgrounds for a powerful leadership experience focused on:

  • leadership in action
  • personal values and ethics
  • communication and influence
  • community impact
  • teamwork and collaboration

Participants leave RYLA with stronger leadership capability, lifelong networks, and a clearer sense of direction.

How Rotary Club of Mount Eliza Supports Youth

Each year, the Rotary Club of Mount Eliza sponsors local young people to attend RYPEN and RYLA.

This includes:

  • funding program participation
  • identifying suitable candidates through schools and community networks
  • mentoring and supporting participants before and after the program
  • inviting participants to share their experiences with the club

Our goal is simple: to invest in young people who will go on to make a difference in their communities.
