June 3: Reverend Malcolm Goodrich, Peninsula Grammar's new Chaplain Malcolm gave an excellent summary of the role of the Chaplain in a School and the importance of their position. His first career was as a lawyer which occupied him for twent years. He was then called to the Anglican ministry. His is family had ties with the Anglican church in Hawthorn although they were not particularly religious. He studied Reigon at Melbourne Uni and once he was ordained he became a chaplain at Melbourne Grammar. Malcolm was more interested in the development of young people rather than taking charge of a parish. After 11 years and Melbourne Grammar it was time for a change and he joined the staff at Peninsula Grammar in November last year who had been without a chaplain for 5 years. Malcolm was an impressive speaker and impressed us all with his thoughtful and professional presence.  Rev Goodrich witrh Chair Neil June 17: Tony Conabere author of the novel "Laura" Tony Conabere has become a novelist after a long career in education. He was a product of a private school education and then entered entered teaching as his career. He taught in all boys schools: Northcote High, Melbourne High and Wesley College. As a teacher and Principal he then was a part of Wesley becoming co-educational which was a profound and successful move for the School. During his time in boys schools, his understanding of mysogeny and his desire to eradicate it developed and he sees it as one of the greatest issues facing our society. After retiring to run a winery, he started to write as way to contiue his mission to change society's attitude to women and educate young men. His novel "Laura" is based on a life of a fictious young woman Laura and her path through life. Tony mentioned how the women in his life, both students and his family especially Geraldine helped change his views and deducate him. He sold many books to members after his entertaining and thoughtful presentation.   Tony signing books  President and Geraldine Conabere with the book.
