Mornington Peninsula has the most rough sleeping homeless in all of Victoria.
There is a strong need for Refuge Centres for women and children escaping family violence.
Moonah House is one of these Refuge Centres
Moonah House can cater for a maximum of 70 clinents per night. or can supply 3400 bed nights in the long term. The average stay is 3 months and Moonah House has onsite staff to cater for medical, councelling, lifeskill and networking needs. Fo obvious reasons its location is hidden. It is a self funded refuge. It costs $250, 000 to run for six months, $50,000 to care for the tailored needs of 50 students. Simply put it is about $1000 per night of shelter. We can help through donations, making care packs under supervision, volunteering at the centre or join the Walk the Talk event(google it). The website is moonahhouse.org.au
