President's Message - Carolyn Such

Message from President Carolyn

Very sad news early on Friday morning was the passing of Victor Sulivan at Peninsula Private Hospital.  Victor was the husband of our own Hon Secretary George-Ann.  He was himself a long standing Rotarian as past President of Mornington Rotary and other Rotary Clubs around Victoria.  Most people would be aware of his poor health for some time but he was extremely stoic so hid it well.
Our thoughts are with George-Ann and her family at this sad time.  Victor’s funeral will be on Friday 14th  at 11:30am at St James the Less in Mount Eliza with light refreshments in the Hall straight afterwards.   Club members will be assisting on the day.
At our Club meeting last week our autobiography program was on show.  Keith Den Hartog and Nina DeSilva presented their very different life stories.  I think its very good for us to hear from new members and get to know them just that bit better.
Thank you to those members who were able to man the Bunnings roster on Friday.  Friday BBQs are not nearly so busy.  It is necessary for the Club to keep doing Fridays though to build goodwill with Bunnings and allow us access to more dates on the schedule throughout the year.
Please note
This week is a zoom meeting
Dr Roberts will be telling us about the new ultrasound machine needed for Frankston Health  Woman's Health

Program for 18 June at Toorak College
Russel Hayes will be speaking on Wheelchairs for Kids
Looking forwards to seeing you all there on Tuesday

Change Over Mt Eliza 2024
Rotary Club of Mt Eliza 2024/ 25 Changeover Event Reminder

As President Carolyn is staying on for a second year, this year we will be having a more casual Changeover Event, rather than a Changeover Dinner.

All Rotarians, Friends, Family and others are invited to what should be a great evening of Fun & Fellowship at the Mt Eliza Bowls Club on Tuesday, 25 June from 6.00 pm for a 6.30 pm start.

Highlights of the evening will include:

* A Spanish theme with a delicious Paella meal (vegetarian option available) prepared by Juan from Peninsula Paellas

* Under the leadership of President Carolyn, confirmation of Board Members for the 2024/25 Rotary Year

* Announcement of Major Vocational Award winners - Community, Shine On & Stan Spencer Awards

* Quizzes and other competitions with bottles of wine and/ or chocolates as prizes

The cost of the evening is $40 per person with drinks available at bar prices.

RCME Community Trust Fund

t
Our Club is the Trustee of the RCME Community Trust Fund which disburses funds to projects meeting Rotary’s objectives, often with a local involvement. The Fund is endorsed by the ATO as a Deductible Gift Recipient and is able to receive tax-deductible donations – a number of the Club’s members utilise this opportunity.
With the end of the tax year approaching, the opportunity is once again at hand to donate to the Fund. Donations can be made as a direct bank credit or by directing the donation to the Club’s Treasurer, Sue Voss.
