Community Group Meeting
The first meeting of our new Frankston Mornington Peninsula Community Group (FMP) was held on Sunday 14th.  This was the first time that the entire group has come together with our leader Peter Rawlings.   The group consists of the Clubs from our previous Peninsula Cluster plus Frankston based Clubs and the new Rotaract Club, a total of thirteen Clubs.
I would say that our Peninsula Cluster worked very well on collaborative projects.  The idea is to get FMP to the same stage.     DG Colin Byron was present and commented that he felt we were  very advanced in our planning.
Overall, the view from the group was that it was a good idea for Clubs to budget specifically for an agreed FMP initiative.   There was a strong view from Clubs further down the Peninsula that that homelessness and domestic violence issue was foremost for them.   There was no specific project outlined.
Other possible projects involved mental health, a small toothbrush/paste supply for support centre and a possible music excursion to the MSO.
It was a very good start.
RYLA
On Saturday I attended the closing ceremony at RYLA in Phillip Island.  I thought it was a very worthwhile program.  The 35 young people involved seemed to get a lot out of it in terms of personal development.    Mount Eliza needs to work harder to find a RYLA candidate next year.

Club Visit
Judy Coultas has floated the idea of a possible Club visit to Tonga during 2025.  It would give us the opportunity to meet the local Rotary Club and connect with the people we have been involved with  during our various Interplast projects.

I had a phone conversation today with a very nice young chap from Pakistan. This is how it went:

"Hello, how are you today?"

"I'm very well thank you for asking, how are you and more to the point, WHO are you?"

“Sir, my name is Sanjit, and I'm calling you from Microsoft.”

"Microsoft, is that a city in Pakistan?”

" No Sir, MICROSOFT, the computer company. I'm calling to tell you that we have found a problem with your computer.”

"REALLY, that's quite concerning.”

"Yes Sir, it can become very serious indeed but thankfully I will be able to fix it for you.”

"No, I meant it's very concerning because I don't HAVE a computer.”

“You don't?"

“No.”

"Ahh, it must be a problem on your laptop Sir.”

"Don't have one.”

"Ipad?"

"Nope.”

"Tablet?"

"I have none of those things. As a matter of fact, I don't even have a telephone.”

After a few seconds of silence he said "Sir, you are lying to me now!"

I said "Well, you started it!!" and put the phone down.
