While Chris & I were finishing up our holiday, on Tuesday this week a Club Assembly took place at Toorak College.
Thanks to Jim who chaired the meeting in my absence
Reports were received from Bernie Edwards on the Club Trust Fund, Jenny Baker on Interplast, Carol Allen on the South African Playground Project and Cathryn Leonard, assisted by Di Costello, on the Earlyact Club and 150th Birthday celebrations at Mt Eliza Primary School.
Thanks to each of these speakers, each of whom had taken a considerable time in preparing their presentations. All members of the Club, especially newer Rotarians, would have found the information very interesting and adding to the understanding of the depth and variety of charitable works that our Club undertakes.
On the night Jim Young talked about a presentation at Peninsula Health last Monday where representatives of the Rotary Clubs of Somerville Tyabb, Frankston & Mt Eliza were given a demonstration of the new ultrasound machine that the three Clubs had purchased earlier this year for the hospital network’s maternity services.

On 28 October 2024, members of the Somerville Tyabb, Frankston, and Mt Eliza Rotary Clubs came together at Frankston Hospital to welcome the arrival of a new portable ultrasound machine for the Women’s Health Unit. This state-of-the-art device replaces the previous machine—originally donated by the Rotary Club of Frankston over 20 years ago—which had become unusable earlier this year.

The local group of nuns had just been given a new car by a local car dealer so the mother superior picked two other nuns and away they went for a drive in the countryside, BIG smash, all three dead on the spot. Up they go to the pearly gates but St Peter stops them and tells them that they have to answer a question from the bible before they can enter.
He says to the first sister and says “ when God was building the earth he made a beautiful garden, what was the name of that garden”. “ The garden of Eden “ she says. Bells rang, lights flashed, gates opened and through she went. Peter said to the second sister, “ Now in this garden God made the first woman, what was her name “.
The nun thinks for a minute and says “Eve “, Again with the bells, the lights etc the gates opened and through she went. St Peter turns to the third nun and says,” Seeing as to how you are the Mother Superior , your question will be a little more difficult. One day Eve was out walking in the garden, she looked up and saw a man walking towards her, what were the first words that Eve ever said”.
The Mother Superior looked at the ground, shuffled her feet and said , “ Oh that is a hard one “.
“ Your Right “, said St Peter and the gates fell off their hinges.
