The Rotary Club of Mount Eliza was proud to support the Backpacks 4 Vic Kids Annual Giving Day, standing alongside an organisation that is making a profound difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people across Victoria.
Representing the club, Yvonne Simpson attended the event and spoke about Rotary's commitment to supporting community organisations that provide practical assistance, hope and dignity to those facing difficult circumstances. She was joined by fellow Rotarian Carolyn Such for a tour of the facility and an opportunity to learn more about the organisation's growing impact.

Backpacks 4 Vic Kids supports children entering foster care, experiencing family violence, facing homelessness, or transitioning through crisis situations. Many of these children arrive at a new home or care placement with few or no personal belongings. Through carefully prepared backpacks filled with essential items, comfort objects, clothing, personal care products and school supplies, the organisation helps reduce trauma and provide a sense of security during a time of uncertainty.
During the visit, attendees learned about the six programs operated by Backpacks 4 Vic Kids, including youth outreach services, educational support programs, Christmas gift initiatives and emergency care packs distributed through agencies across Victoria and into regional New South Wales.
The Rotary Club of Mount Eliza was pleased to contribute $1,000 to the Giving Day appeal, providing funding for 10 backpacks for children in need.
A highlight of the day was learning that every donation made during the Giving Day campaign is being matched dollar for dollar, effectively doubling the impact of every contribution received.
The organisation relies heavily on volunteers, community donations, grants and fundraising partnerships to meet increasing demand. With thousands of children supported each year and no ongoing government funding, community support remains critical to ensuring these essential services continue.
Rotary Club of Mount Eliza encourages members of our community to consider supporting this important work. Every donation, no matter the size, helps provide comfort, dignity and practical support to children experiencing some of life's most challenging circumstances.
To learn more or make a donation, visit Backpacks 4 Vic Kids and help make twice the impact while matched giving remains available.
Together, we can help ensure that every child facing crisis knows that their community cares.
