Two Inspiring Days of Ideas, Impact and Connection
The recent Rotary District 9815 and 9830 Conference brought together Rotarians, community leaders and changemakers for a powerful weekend of ideas, inspiration and impact.

Saroo Brierley – A Story of Hope and Determination
Saroo Brierley shared the extraordinary story that inspired the film Lion.
Separated from his family in India at just five years old, Saroo was eventually adopted by an Australian family in Tasmania. Decades later, using satellite technology and an unwavering determination, he located the village where he was born and reunited with his birth family.
His story reminded delegates of the power of hope, resilience and perseverance.

Knox Rocks – Music Transforming Young Lives
The Knox Rocks youth songwriting program, led by Mark Smith, uses music as a tool to build confidence, connection and wellbeing in young people.

Interplast – Life-Changing Surgery
Plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr Kirk Williams spoke about the humanitarian work of Interplast Australia & New Zealand.
Volunteer medical teams provide reconstructive surgery throughout the Asia-Pacific region, restoring mobility, independence and dignity for patients while also training local healthcare professionals to ensure sustainable long-term impact.
