Guest Speaker - Senior Sargent Luke Holmes
  • Luke’s father was a Rotarian and PHF. Luke went to Sweden on a Rotary exchange in 1997, which was a major influence on his future direction in life. Luke’s daughter, Chloe was our Club’s Rotary Youth Exchange student to Finland last year.  Luke is now President of our Satellite Club and it was great to see Carl, Rebecca, Jacqueline and Kym on line to hear Luke’s talk.  The Satellite Club now has 9 members, with a few more in the wings.  The membership is 70% female.  Luke is looking to grow the Club and provide a recruiting base for the Rotary Club.
  • Luke had a harmonious family background, with the only disputes between his parents were when their respective football teams played each other. It came as a bit of a shock on his 1st appointment as a 21 year old policeman, he attended a violent domestic dispute. This was followed by appointments to Reservoir, South Melbourne, the Drug Task Force and the Sexual Crimes Squad. He was Sergeant at Springvale and is now Snr Sgt at Frankston
  • Luke then gave an outline of some of the cases in which he has been involved.
  • Luke concluded by saying that bringing people together with different skills to create a powerful team works with the Police Force, Rotary, the Satellite Club and can be a strong force for good.
