It’s a question we hear often—and at our latest club meeting, we set out to answer it.

With the new Rotary year fast approaching in July, members will soon be asked to nominate their preferred committees. So we took the opportunity to step through exactly what each part of the club does, and how it all comes together.

For newer members, it was an eye-opening look at the breadth of activity. For others, a timely reminder of just how much is happening at any given time.

So, what do we do?

Quite a lot, as it turns out.

Our Community Committee leads many of the initiatives you’ll see locally—from ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day services to Bunnings BBQs, catering support, and partnerships with local organisations.

Our International Committee extends that impact globally, supporting projects like school development in Cambodia, playground installations in South Africa, and health and sustainability initiatives in communities that need it most.

The Youth and Vocational Committee focuses on the next generation—supporting leadership programs, school engagement, and recognising individuals making a difference through vocational awards.

Our Environment Committee gets hands-on with conservation and sustainability projects, contributing to the long-term health of our local area.

Behind the scenes, our Fundraising and Events teams make it all possible—through major initiatives like the International Women’s Day Breakfast and annual golf day.

And underpinning it all is our Rotary Foundation and Community Trust, ensuring funds are managed responsibly and directed where they can have the greatest impact.

More Than Just Committees

One of the strongest messages from the night was simple: you don’t need a title to contribute.

Many members support the club by volunteering at events, suggesting guest speakers, or simply lending a hand when needed.

Rotary is flexible, inclusive, and shaped by the people in it.

So if you’ve ever wondered what we do in Rotary—the answer is: a little bit of everything, and a lot of good.

And if you’re curious to see it for yourself, you’re always welcome to join us at a meeting.
