District Governor's Visit
It was great to see Governor Paul on his much delayed official visit. Like most District Governors Paul’s enthusiasm for Rotary was palpable and his support and desire to not only to support Rotary in the global sense through Foundation but also his desire to support and learn about our club was wonderful. Paul commenced with his presentation encouraging us all to register and attend the upcoming conference at the RACV resort at Cape Schanck. Paul next focussed on RI’s goals to ensure Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in our Clubs and community. Inclusion of all races, cultures & demographics, equal opportunities for all and the ability to allow people to express their ideas and views. He concluded this segment reflecting on how much the world needs Rotary at the moment.
Paul spent most of his time focussing on what our Club has achieved. He asked us to be introspective and think on the things about our Club we were proud of both in our projects and fellowship. He used Australian Rotary Health as an example of what one Club can do. Time flew by as club members shared their experiences and listed the achievements and characteristics of our Club that they were proud of. Some included Carl Seales and the T-Model Ford for Heart Transplant , John Gordon and Young Carers, Interplast, the way we stayed connected through covid days, local remembrance and national celebrations, the welcome we give others, the fantastic and supportive fellowship and the support from other members for individual projects/quests. It left us with a great sense of wellbeing and appreciation of our colleagues and friends in the Club as we reflected on the amazing things we achieved over generations of members .
