An Engaging Evening with J.P. Pomare at Stories by the Sea

An entertaining and insightful evening at Stories by the Sea saw Rotary members join the local community to celebrate the launch of The Gambler by J.P. Pomare. With humour, behind-the-scenes insights and stories of novels adapted for television, it was a night that showcased both creative talent and strong community connection.

Twelve members of our Rotary Club were delighted to attend the recent book launch at Stories by the Sea for The Gambler by Melbourne crime author J.P. Pomare. We were invited following Sonja’s involvement in one of our Business Nights last year, and it was wonderful to reconnect and support a valued local business.

The evening drew a strong audience from across the local community, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. J.P. was interviewed by fellow crime writer Christian White, and the two were genuinely funny, engaging and refreshingly candid. Their conversation offered fascinating insight into the writing process, the realities of publishing and the art of crafting suspense, with plenty of laughs along the way.

It was particularly impressive to hear that two of J.P.’s novels have been adapted for television, including The Clearing and Watching You. Learning more about the journey from page to screen added another layer of interest to an already compelling discussion.

Our thanks to Frank Flowers for liaising with Sonja and coordinating our attendance. Evenings such as this highlight the value of strong community partnerships and Rotary’s ongoing commitment to supporting local business and creative talent.
