Sophie Morell is not your normal run of the mill person. She has always been one to run to her own tune and this was no different when she was told 12 months to live. That was 21 years ago. Diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), and whilst in the fight for her life Sophie questioned everything thing especially her medical team which has resulted in an increased ongoing patient centred care. Due to the aggressive nature of Sophie’s leukemia chemotherapy failed, which resulted in the need for a bone marrow transplant and her genetic make-up resulted in the near perfect match in Norway. That is where the story begins. Today, Sophie runs her own company in aged care support and brings the same level of questioning to the sector as she did when her life was turned upside down and she ended up living back at home with her parents – unemployed and bald.
