Monthly Rotary Theme for February

 Peacebuilding and  Conflict Prevention

Thank you to all members who have completed the Club survey.  Just a reminder that the responses are due next Monday 4th March.
I look forward to hearing the views and presenting back to the Club as soon as possible.

The half yearly update that I presented at the Club Assembly last week showed that we have been very busy in a range of local and international projects.  However, we are not complacent, there is always more to be done.

Our Golf Day during April will be an important fund raiser with the money going to Interplast and Code 9.
Discussion about the Farmers Market and reduced sales of our egg and bacon rolls took up a bit of time.  The view is that there is more competition from our food vendors and we need to improve our signage to raise our profile.

Our new BBQ trailer due at the end of March will help but Linda and I will work out what extra signage we need for the future.
I hope everyone is looking forward to our evening at McClelland Sculpture Park on Tuesday 12th March, 5-7:45pm.  Bookings are open through Humanitex now.

Please see the link below to book your attendance at the RCME McClelland Gallery night on Tuesday March 12th
Please read the instructions on Humanitex carefully as there are a range of oprions when booking

March 5  Speaker Sophia Morrell
Sophie Morell
Made in Australia, Powered by Norway

Sophie Morell is not your normal run of the mill person.  She has always been one to run to her own tune and this was no different when she was told 12 months to live.
That was 21 years ago.  Diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), and whilst in the fight for her life Sophie questioned everything thing especially her medical team which has resulted in an increased ongoing patient centred care.
Due to the aggressive nature of Sophie’s leukemia chemotherapy failed, which resulted in the need for a bone marrow transplant and her genetic make-up resulted in the near perfect match in Norway.

That is where the story begins.

Today, Sophie runs her own company in aged care support and brings the same level of questioning to the sector as she did when her life was turned upside down and she ended up living back at home with her parents – unemployed and bald.
