President's Message - John Welsh

Hi Fellow Rotarians,

Thanks to Neil for holding the fort when I was away. The market went well and was very successful.
Carolyn is well on the way with the Interplast organization where Mt Eliza is leading the arrangements in the cluster.
The Cup Eve event is well underway and something to look forward to, please ask your friends to attend. It should be a great night.
Tuesday was a busy night and had a great atmosphere where we were able to welcome Murray and Marlise McNally back to the club for a visit.
Great to see the continuing fellowship that exists in Rotary.
Good to meet John Horscroft ‘s nephew Andrew and our speaker from the CFA, Andrew Whitehead. There was a lot of information and the commitment by the volunteers to the community is wonderful. Interesting to hear the inside story.
As I mentioned on Tuesday, there is a stroke foundation talk and morning tea at the community centre in Wilson’s Road Mornington. It is being run by the men’s
shed. Tuesday 18 th October 9.30 am. If you are interested, please let me know.
Next week we are on zoom, our guest is Assoc Prof Andrew Edgley who is talking about Long covid.
I hope you zoom in

I look forward to seeing you next week.

Regards
John

Their ancestry included English 47.3%, Australian 35.3% and 74.5% were born in Australia
The average number of children per family was 1.9 and the average number of people per household was 2.8
The main health conditions were arthritis, asthma and mental health, much the same as the Victorian figures which were Mental Health, Asthma and arthritis

This Week's Speaker
Andrew Whitehead from the Mt Eliza CFA

Andrew Whitehead, the Officer in Charge of the Mt Eliza CFA station gave us an update on fire risk and the training that goes into each and every member of the Fire Brigade.

Andrew has been a member of the Mt Eliza CFA for 35 years, a Police Officer for over 20 years and the OIC for the past 7 years.

There was a lively Question and Answer session, and we were all much better informed of the work of this great volunteer organisation in our community

It was terrific to see John Horscroft doing such a great job as Chairman for the night and to see his nephew also Andrew, and a member of the Police Force as a guest

Brynton''s Joke of the Week
During a visit to my doctor, I asked him,
"How do you determine whether or not an older person should be put in an old age home?"
Well, he said, we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to
the person to empty the bathtub
Oh, I understand; I said. A normal person would use the bucket because it is bigger
than the spoon or the teacup.
No he said. A normal person would pull the plug.
Do you want a bed near the window?
