September was a great month for our Club.
As always, September was a great month for the Rotary Club of Mt Eliza. Some of our many highlights included:
* The induction of Peter Manger as a new member/ transferee from the RC Melbourne. A very big welcome Peter.
* Rotarian Rob Cracknell who joined our Club 421 years ago on 28th May 1985 received a 40 Year Achievement Award recognising his outstanding contributions to our Club.
* Rotarian Clare Pearce gave a memorable 'spooky' talk on unbelievable coincidences.
* At the start of the month we were joined by a large number of Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) participants and presenters led by our very own Rotarian Chloe Lewis who attended RYLA this year.
* Our second meeting in September saw Brodie Coozee, from RPFM radio, return as guest speaker as he presented a "mystery surprises" communications program.
* Our guest speaker Tomi Winfree, gave a wide ranging talk about volunteering and participation on 'a new environmental initiative' at our third September meeting.
* On 22 Club Service Director/ President elect Jenny Baker coordinated an excellent Club Assembly as Rotarians on each of the major Areas of Service Committees further explored their activities for this year.
* Reports were given about our Club's support for a mentoring program connecting Rotary members with senior students at the Mt Eliza Secondary College.
* Led by Environment Director Mark Rodman and with great support from Alan Costello, Neil Heron, Caryl Coulthard and other our Environment committee continues to do great work including joining with the Mornington Peninsula Koala Conservation nation group for a tree planting day in the Flinders area.
* Rotarians and guests enjoyed a wonderful evening of music, friendship and community at the Rotary club of Mt Eliza Musical Soiree.
* Once again many Rotarians volunteered at a regular Bunnings BBQ and we had a great day for the late August Farmers Market.
* The month finished off with a bang the Paws For A Cause dog show at the Community Fun Day at Ritchies IGA on Sunday 27th September. Club Service Director reports that there were approximately 40 dogs on show and with 'an enormous crowd in attendance'.
