President's Message - Carolyn Such

I must express my thanks to Jim Young and the vocational committee for their organisation of our very successful Calcutta on Monday 4th.  The numbers have grown steadily over the years.  It’s a lovely problem when you have to go back to the venue and ask if they can accommodate another fifteen people.  Because it’s a fun event it attracts a large group of attendees outside existing members.  It shows us having fun together.
Aren’t we lucky to have such a skilful auctioneer in Phil Key.  Not only does he generate funds , he also creates a great atmosphere of friendly competition.  Phil worked extremely hard on the night.  Well done Phil.
The list of Calcutta winners is embedded elsewhere in this bulletin.
I did receive a letter of appreciation from Jo Gunnersen.  Jo records her appreciation for the Club’s donation to her Xmas Cakes for Cancer Research project.  This donation came directly from our fashion parade event.   She says the funds will go a long way to helping to keep a  scientist researching cancer.  She has raised over $250,000 since starting her project.  The total distribution of funds is listed in the recent Board minutes.
Today Friday 8th we are involved in the Mount Eliza Primary School Fete.  We are manning gates to help them raise funds.  Also there will be a display for our EarlyAct Club members.  The Early Act Club has decided  to collect toothpaste and tooth brushes from their school community to distribute to the support centres on the Peninsula.  This project is an initiative of the Peninsula RotarAct Club.
Thank you to everyone who was involved on the roster for our Farmers Market.  It’s a great community activity and is a great source of funds for our project account.  Members should note the program for Remembrance Day on Monday 11th.   All members are welcome.

PLEASE NOTE : this has been sent separately to everyone
