Dearest Members,

The best laid plans can go astray ...

Following the show of hands at our Zoom meeting last week and follow up discussions with the Canadian Bay Hotel, we had planned to have 45 members and guests attend a smaller than usual Changeover Dinner at CBs on Tuesday 30 June. It was planned that all Club members would have the opportunity to attend.

Unfortunately the decision of the Victorian Government to continue the limit of 20 attendees at restaurants and hotels through until 19 July means that we will now proceed with a Changeover limited to 20 people in attendance.

There will be a bigger one when P E Sue can catch her breath 😊

It is to be regretted that attendance will be only for members of the Incoming and Outgoing Boards and some special guests.  This  is outside the control of the Club and CBs.

Kindly note that there will not be a Rotary Zoom meeting on Tuesday 30 June.

However, we will now proceed to hold a Zoom meeting this week on Tuesday, 23 June. George-Ann Sullivan will be the Chair, David Rew the 3 Minute Speaker and Jim Young will be guest speaker on his role as President of the Frankston Wine & For Society. The Zoom meeting number is 81257513232

During these uncertain times we cannot say for sure when we will resume "normal"  Club Dinner meetings. However, at the time of writing we are hopeful that this will occur later in July.

If you have not already done so please contact Secretary Pauline and vote on your preferred choice of venue - Toorak College or Canadian Bay Hotel. Voting closes on Tuesday.

May I thank all Club Members for their support during these difficult times.

This also means I get to write one more column after all!

most sincerely

Ross

YOUR DECISION - RCME Dinner Meetings
As mentioned by President Ross in his column above and with a strong desire to recommence holding dinner meetings, there have been a number of conversations with both Toorak College and the Canadian Bay Hotel.

Both Toorak and CBs offer us the opportunity to resume dinner meetings, albeit that the timing is uncertain due to Victorian Government COVID-19 restrictions.

Members are asked to note that both venues will require that all persons attending have a meal.

Going forward our choices are:

Option 1 - Toorak College

Once Government restrictions allow, Toorak must limit the total number of people in attendance to 32 (4 Rotarians per table on a total of eight tables).

The cost of a meal will remain at $33 and members will continue to be able to bring their own drinks.

The menu will remain as in the last year with a main meal, bread role and dessert plus tea and coffee.

At this stage Toorak cannot provide a definite starting date because they need to resolve how Rotarians "do not encounter any staff or students remaining on school premises". However,  it is expected that this matter can be resolved such that we could resume meeting again at Toorak sometime in late July.

Option 2 - Canadian Bay Hotel (CB)

Once the Government approves an increase in numbers, which is now expected to be on 12  July, CB is able to accommodate 45 people in their upstairs function room. Like Toorak they have a microphone and projection facilities.

The cost of a meal will be $33 and members will be able to buy drinks at bar prices. No BYO is available.

A similar meal option to Toorak will be available with a bread role, main meal and dessert plus tea and coffee.

In the short-term CB can accommodate 20 people attending a dinner meeting with others being ZOOMED in.

Members are asked to consider these two alternatives and email the Secretary with their preference, saying either TOORAK or CANADIAN BAY,  no later than 12 noon on Tuesday, 23 June so that a final decision can be made by the Board later that day.
