President's Message - John Welsh

President’s report 25th November 2022

Hello Fellow Rotarians,

Thanks to Maurie Selth for arranging the international speaker, Susan Slattery from the Marist
organisation, they are doing great things all over the world and in Timor particularly. Chris Angerer
had a lot to do with our club and cluster commitment to Timor a few years ago, we may be able to
assist again in the future. Phil rose to the occasion and auctioned 2 dolls made in Timor and achieved
$450.00 for the Marist organisation. Well done Josie and Chris Angerer for the dolls and Phil for his
extraordinary auction ability.
Good to welcome Barbera Reid and all the partners as well as Melanie and Chris Aldis.
Mike told us that Ross is back in hospital, all send there wishes to him for a speedy recovery.
On Wednesday this week we celebrated the Queens Jubilee environment grant at the peninsula trail
re vegetation site at Moorooduc station.
Don’t forget to book for the Christmas Party. Our Christmas party is on the 13 th of December and the

So now the ONLY way to have entries into the Bulletin is to email                        susaneadam92@gmail.com

A great International partners and friends' night was organised by Maurie Selth with particular thanks to Susan Slattery from the Marist organisation, Chris and Josie Angerer and Master Auctioneer Phil Keyes.  I hear there was quite fierce bidding for the little dolls that were donated.  Well done to Phil for extracting the very last dollars from the audience.

Brynton's Joke of the Week
Brynton's Joke of the Week
Murphy, a furniture dealer from Dublin, decided to expand the line of furniture in his store, so he decided to go to Paris to see what he could find.

After arriving in Paris, he visited with some manufacturers and selected a line that he thought would sell well back home. To celebrate the new acquisition, he decided to visit
a small bistro and have a glass of wine.

As he sat enjoying his wine, he noticed that the small place was quite crowded, and that the other chair at his table was the only vacant seat in the house.

Before long, a very beautiful young Parisian girl came to his table, asked him something in French (which Murphy could not understand), so he motioned to the vacant chair and
invited her to sit down.

He tried to speak to her in English, but she did not speak his language. After a couple of minutes of trying to communicate with her, he took a napkin, drew a picture of a wine
glass, and showed it to her.

She nodded, so he ordered a glass of wine for her.

After sitting together at the table for a while, he took another napkin, and drew a picture of a plate with food on it, and she nodded.

They left the bistro and found a quiet café that featured a small group playing romantic music. They ordered dinner, after which he took another napkin and drew a picture of couple dancing.  She nodded, and they got up to dance. They danced until the café closed and the band packed up.

Back at their table, the young lady took a napkin and drew a picture of a four-poster bed.

To this day, Murphy has no idea how she figured out he was in the furniture business.
