President's Message - Jim Young
 
President’s Column – Bulletin – September 2025
On 16 September we had a combined dinner meeting at Toorak College with the Rotary Clubs of Mornington & Mt Martha to hear from our District 9815 Governor, Peter Behm.
 
Along with Peter we also heard from Jo Davie, Mornington President, Anne Shaw, Mt Martha President, Community Leader Peter Rawlings and District Governor Nominee Murray Wilson.
 
This night provided a great opportunity to learn so much about the direction of the District, the priorities of our local Frankston & Mornington Peninsula Community of Clubs and specific fund-raising and projects of the Mornington, Mt Martha & Mt Eliza Clubs. The breadth of activities was inspirational and attendees learned a great deal.
 
Thank you to DG Peter for his leadership. We look forward to being more involved with the District over the coming months, including attendance at the Conference in Hobart in March nest year.
 
Thank you Carol Wallace and the Committee working on our coming Fashion Show at the Mornington Golf Club on Thursday 9th October. Early bookings are very encouraging and it seems that we will again have a fabulous event.
 
Separately, please keep in mind the Environment committee fundraiser to be held at Toorak College from 6.00 pm on Tuesday 14th October. Carl Voss, National Sales Manager with Patrick of Coonawarra, will take us through a delightful and educational wine experience. The cost will be $40 which includes finger food, the Humanitix fee and a $20 donation towards our Environment Committee projects.

DG Peter Behm Visit
9815 District Govenor Peter Behm's visit to Morninton, Mount Martha and Mount Eliza  Clubs
DG Peter Behm visited our Clubs on Tuesday September 16 where he addressed members during a dinner meeting at the Toorak College Dining Room. The night was well attended by all Clybs and each President had the opportinity to present Club projects and processes. IT was very informative for us all as we got to know what our neighbouring Clubs were achieving. It was very impressive. The star of the evening was of course our DG Peter  who addrerssed us all on his year to date and the plans for the rest of his year including the District Coference in Hobart during February, Tasmania. The conference will be a joint conference with District 9830, the Tasmanian District. Go to the District It was also good to be introduced to our DG nominee Muarry Wilson. The night was inspiring and fantastic fellowship to boot. We wish Peter all  the  best for the remainder of his year and thank him for joining us to mark his vist to our part of "Area 5" .

Despi O'Connor: Moonah House, A Community led Crisis Centre
Mornington Peninsula has the most rough sleeping homeless in all of Victoria.
There is a strong need for Refuge Centres for women and children escaping family violence.
Moonah House is one of these Refuge Centres
 
Moonah House can cater for a maximum of 70 clinents per night. or can supply 3400 bed nights in the long term. The average stay is 3 months and Moonah House has onsite staff to cater for medical, councelling, lifeskill and networking needs. Fo obvious reasons its location is hidden. It is a self funded refuge. It costs $250, 000 to run for six months, $50,000 to care for the tailored needs of 50 students. Simply put it is about $1000 per night of shelter. We can help through donations, making care packs under supervision, volunteering at the centre or join the Walk the Talk event(google it). The website is moonahhouse.org.au
