Did we have fun last night, or what? A number of events, planned and otherwise, combined for a very entertaining evening.
Our Lift The Lid hats were a credit to the inventiveness of many. And Alex Anderson OAM wore a matching weskit, which even fitted. Well done, indeed. Brendan, by chance our cashier, wore his black top hat. He was the perfect image of an 1850's banker.
Judy Coultas produced a speaker, Jane Verity [see her story] who was indeed a triumph from Judy's repertoire of enthralling speakers. Jane also won 'Best Hat'!
Now, I am told occasionally that we are supposed to rotate portfolios every Year or two. My opinion is that there is also the 'if it is not broken, don't fix it' rule. There are two or three roles in our Club that members are happy to continue with. We do ask said members each Year if they wish to continue, before approaching others. Where enjoyment and contact are maintained, I see no harm in leaving this arrangement alone. Should another member wish to undertake a duty, now is the time to tell Sue Voss, she being Club Service Director and President - elect.
Your Board looks to improve transition, by training new members into their role prior to Changeover. It was I.P.P. Jim Young who primarily mooted the idea during his presidency. We started this with the Youth Portfolio from last November, and ran the full handover over several months. System and procedure information comes from our District and RI with ..... frequency.
