President's Message - John Welsh

President’s report 11th November, 2022

Hello Fellow Rotarians,

As you know we had the District Interplast Dinner at Toorak last Tuesday hosted by our club. Carolyn and Chris Such have done a superb job meeting with all the club presidents and receiving a commitment of $5000 each.

We welcomed the CEO Cameron Glover the Vice President of Interplast Kirsten McGill and Catherine Gorr. Kirsten is a senior surgeon and works at 3 major hospitals in Melbourne and has travelled on 7 trips for Interplast. Catherine Gorr has made 39 trips as a surgical nurse.

It was announced that the funding from our cluster would be for a team for Tonga mid next year. Interplast has undertaken 39,000 operations since its inception; it was a wonderful night very positive and Carolyn and Chris did a magnificent job in arranging the funding and the night. Congratulations to them both.

We meet at Toorak next week, don’t forget that 22nd November has a speaker from east Timor and is a partner's night, we have our AGM and DG visit on the 29th of the month. We look forward to seeing you at these meetings.

Regards
John

Speaker - There has been yet another change of Speaker this week due to proposed speakers being unable to attend at the last minute. Many thanks to Judy Coultas for her amazing abilities to find Speakers from out of nowhere.  This is the third change for Judy for this week, so great work - well done Judy

Cashiers  - Could we also please have some emergency Cashiers for the weeks when cashiers are away and/or Chairing - I'm happy to cover next week but we do need some extras - Thanks

Please ensure you have asked the next person on the list if you are unable to do your allotted duty

Brynton's Joke of the Week
In lieu of Brynton's joke of the week due to Interplast dinner, here is one I prepared earlier!?!?!?
A married couple went to a supermarket to shop for some groceries. After perusing some different beer brands the husband realised he could not find his wife, so he approached a beautiful woman and asked her,
“I am sorry, but I seemed to have lost my wife and can’t find her. Would you mind if I talk to you for a minute or two?”
The woman looked perplexed and asked the husband why.
The husband replied,
“Every time I talk to a woman, my wife finds me out of nowhere in no time.”
