Monthly Rotary Theme for February

 Peacebuilding and  Conflict Prevention

It was a shame that last weeks Petanque night had to be cancelled due to the threat of thunderstorms.   Thank you to the team who were involved in the organisation for this event.  Hopefully we will be able to reinstate it later in the year in better weather.
Our Club was heavily involved in the organisation of the District 9820 Golf Day.

This is not a comment on Ross Schweitzer’s weight but rather his willingness to be the key person to get the event off the ground.  My special thanks to Ross and also to Linda Morris and Carol Allen who ably assisted Ross.

It will be a very busy night this Tuesday with three new member inductions and some very special guests.

Looking forward to seeing you all,  I am certainly looking forward to it

 Report from  Ross Schweitzer.

Rotary D9820 Golf Day –Feb 16

The D9820 2024 Conference Committee approved the only event to occur, namely the Golf Day. Organized through our club.
The were forty paid players with four late cancellations.
The front – end crew was Ross Linda Morris and Carol Allen.

I secured sponsorship from Mercedes Benz – Mornington. They provided significant support with a range of excellent prizes and ‘give – away’ items. I donated items for the ‘arrival pack’ and prizes.
The competition was for both individuals and pairs. The last time the trophies will be contested as D 9820.

Our Club put up a good showing of attendees and place getters. Ross Schweitzer won overall, and his team came second in the ‘Pairs.’
David and Grace Rew entered splendid scores; stalwart supporters of our club as always. Judy Coultas’ team came 12th.

The weather was perfect, and the Management and staff of Mornington Golf Club were impeccable in every aspect.

We were very pleased to see David and Lyn Cahill, and David Button. Mark and D9820 DG Linda Humphries arrived in time to share lunch with us.

Thomas was to be a keynote speaker at the cancelled District 9820 Warrnambool conference.
He will give a short address to the Club.

This will be followed by our arranged guest speaker

Matt Lucas talking about Slow Rail Journeys.

We also have inductions of new members together with the attendance of prospective members to our club,  so a busy and interesting night ahead.
