Wasn’t it great to have a face-to-face meeting last Tuesday at Le Hoang. It was the first time we had seen some members since the start of the last lock down. The fellowship was excellent, the food great value and the chance to catch up with many partners rewarding. It demonstrated the great spirit within the Club. My thanks to John and Jim who pulled it all together and ran the night. The cancelling of most of the COVID restrictions announced last night will make our planning much easier for future meetings and events, though I doubt we will alter the arrangements we have now calendared for the rest of this year. I hope it will all be back to usual in the new year.

The main events/projects to occur till the end of the year will keep us VERY BUSY. The more urgent things are to donate to the Christmas appeal and the Christmas Hampers that the Community Service committee have running. Linda/Pauline has sent out all the details for the Christmas appeal to donate money for gifts and vouchers for the joint effort with the Rotary Club of Mornington. Trish is well organised for the assembly of the hampers for the disadvantaged families in our community. There is no extra burden financially this year for members but it does need us to be organised and aware of the short time lines. For the Christmas presents, donate via Humanatix. Pauline has sent the email link. This event happens in tree weeks so we have only two weeks to sort out our donation.  If you wish to donate more to the hampers please use the club banking details but indicate in the message that it is for the hampers.  For newer members, we raise money for the hampers via the fines and “heads and tails” at meetings but that has been limited this year so we offered members the opportunity to pay a voluntary amount of around $20 in lieu of this during lockdown.

The other fund raisers are the BBQs. Please keep an eye on the Calendar for the upcoming BBQs  and respond to George-Ann’s calls for each roster as promptly as possible when you can assist.

Well done to Ross and his helpers for running a complete and proper Remembrance Day service last Thursday under the trying circumstances that COVID presented. Communication and organisation was difficult, and with the threat of poor weather, but it all came together and I believe it was a successful
Day.

I will finish by wishing our members, including Rob Cracknell and John Paterson, who are dealing with health issues, all the best during their treatment and recovery.  My thanks to Maurie who has been keeping in touch with them and keeping us informed.  He is doing a sterling job as Welfare Officer.

Don’t forget to act on his “well being” suggestion of inviting a member or two and a friend to coffee now that we can.

Till next week, cheers, Neil
