On Saturday 25 April 2026, the Mount Eliza community came together at the Heritage and Memorial Garden to commemorate ANZAC Day and honour those who have served and sacrificed for our nation.
Led by Master of Ceremonies James Farquharson, the service delivered a thoughtful and respectful program that reflected the significance of the day. Reverend Cameron McAdam guided the prayers of remembrance and dedication, while Mr John Ruggero delivered a compelling commemorative address.

Local students played a central role in the ceremony, presenting In Flanders Fields and Binyon’s Ode to the Fallen with sincerity and composure. Their involvement remains a vital part of ensuring the spirit of ANZAC is carried forward to future generations.

The ceremony included the lowering of flags by the 1st Ranelagh Scout Group, The Last Post performed by Nigel Stone, a minute of silence, and Reveille. Wreaths and floral tributes were laid by elected representatives, community organisations, schools, and emergency services, highlighting the breadth of community respect and participation.
Jade Groves of Toorak College delivered a moving rendition of the Australian National Anthem, bringing the formal proceedings to a close.
Despite some technical challenges with the PA system, the strong attendance and respectful engagement of the community ensured the ceremony remained meaningful and dignified.
The Rotary Club of Mount Eliza extends its sincere thanks to all who contributed to the planning and delivery of the service, and to those who attended in support of this important day of remembrance.
Lest we forget.
